Part One

On the planet Jevo, the Jevons realise that they must stop the plants of the planet Arides from flowering. If they do, then the pollen will drift throughout space, and the pollen is deadly to all life. However, to reach Arides, they must cross the path of Skaro.

Part Two

The Daleks detect the approaching ship. They capture it in a magnetrap.

Part Three

Forced to land on Skaro, Kirid, the Jevon commander, explains to the Daleks their plan to prevent the spread of the Arides pollen. However, the Emperor does not care and orders his destruction.

Part Four

Kirid tricks the Daleks into believing that the pollen can destroy even their casings, and the Emperor allows him to continue his mission. However, the Daleks learn of the deception.

Part Five

The Emperor sends Daleks to destroy Kirid and the Jevons. The Jevon ship is approaching Arides and is ready to carry out its mission when a whole fleet of Dalek ships is sighted.

Part Six

The Jevons decide to spray the plants first and worry about the Daleks second. However, this course of action seals their fate and, as the spraying concludes, the Daleks blast them from the skies. The Emperor is impressed by the human spirit and realises that the real test – all-out war with the humans – is yet to come.

  • The Jevons are identified as androids, though it seems likely that David Whitaker has no idea what the word actually means.
