Go to The Model Unit
The Model Unit is the award-winning company behind the model-based special effects in the new series of Doctor Who. The company’s Web site has an excellent portfolio of its work – which is really diverse and encompasses much more than just Doctor Who.
You can see production shots of the moment the Slitheen spaceship crashed into Big Ben, Downing Street exploding, the Nestene Lair, the barrage ballons from The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances – and of course the Daleks and the Dalek Emperor from Dalek/Bad Wolf/Parting of the Ways. The Model Unit also produced work for the DVD of Daleks’ Invasion of Earth and the BBC Web site’s TARDIScam.
The Model Unit’s other work includes Red Dwarf, Krakatoa – The Last Days, Tornado and Timewatch: The Lost Heroes.
