30 March 2007

Among no fewer than three Doctor Who stories have been nominated for the prestigious Hugo award, including Army of Ghosts/Doomsday.

Doctor Who has attracted three nominations for Hugo Awards, from series three of Doctor Who. The stories nominated are: School Reunion by Toby Whitehouse, The Girl in the Fireplace by Steven Moffat and the series finale, the double-bill of Army of Ghosts and Doomsday, by main writer Russell T Davies.

The Doctor Who episodes are up against stories from Battlestar Galactica and Stargate SG-1.

The Hugo Award is named after Hugo Gernsback, who is often called the father of magazine science fiction – because he published the first science fiction magazine.

The awards will be announced during WorldCon 2007 – which will be held in Yokohama in Japan, between 30 August and 3 September 2007.
