Character Group (of which Character Options is a part) has announced outstanding results, a credit in many ways to the success of its excellent range of Doctor Who toys – especially the Daleks and Cybermen.
The company’s turnover increased by 37% to £56.03 million, with operating profits up 80% to £3.59 million.
The company’s Cyberman voice changer helmet was voted ‘Toy of the Year’ last year.
The company has new Doctor Who toys planned for this year, including a Dalek Sec human-Dalek hybrid voice changer mask.
Chairman and co-founder of Character Group, Richard King, said: “Taking into account the ongoing strong demand for our continuing new lines and our new introductions, we are very excited about our prospects and expect to see further exciting growth as we continue to build our exciting brands and develop new ones.”
It could be a good year for Dalek toys, with an 18-inch remote controlled Supreme Dalek in the pipeline which is ‘self-aware’ in that it can guard an area, can go on patrol, maps his surroundings, follows voice commands and can also find a moving object and track it down. For an additional cost, there will be a version with a built in camera, so you can see what he sees when he’s wandering around the house.
