Join the attempt to break the Dalek world record

09 August 2007

Manchester’s Museum of Science and Industry is to attempt to break the world record for the most Daleks gathered together in one place.

If you’re a Dalek builder/owner you might want to pop along to the Museum of Science and Industry in Manchester on Sunday 26 August – were the museum is attempting to break the record of the most number of Daleks gathering in one place.

Those who don’t have access to a full size Mark III travel machine (or variant) are welcome to ‘try their best’ as the Guinness Book of Records will apparently count less precise costumes which ‘closely resemble a Dalek’. Remote controlled Daleks are not allowed – you have to be inside your costume.

This event is part of the Museum’s ‘Doctor Who Up-Close’ show, one of the largest exhibitions of its type – which closes at the Museum on Monday 5 November.

So, if you fancy being part of Dalek history, grab that Dalek (or the closest thing you can muster) and trundle along to the Museum of Science and Industry, in Manchester on Sunday 26 August.

To be part of the world record you need to register with the Museum of Science and Industry by contacting Sarah Roe on tel: 0161 606 0176 or e-mail s.roe@mosi.org.uk
