The Manchester Evening News has reported on the upcoming opening of the Doctor Who Up Close exhibition at Manchester’s museum of science and industry.
It seems that the special effects advisor and director of the exhibition, Martin Wylkie, is the son of Bernard Wylkie, who founded the BBC’s special effects department in the 1950s. As a result of this, Martin was often treated to previews of upcoming monsters – such as Daleks and Cybermen – when his father brought them home.
The exhibition will feature the expected Doctor Who monsters, including Ood, Slitheen, Daleks and Cybermen – with some exhibits, which show items from the as yet unscreened series, being kept under wraps until the episodes have aired.
The Manchester Evening News story features a gallery of pictures from the exhibition, though they seem to have some difficulty spelling ‘Dalek’!
