The Dalek Masterplan prepares to play to a sell-out audience

23 October 2007

The stage production of the Dalek Masterplan is in its final stages of preparation – and is set to play to a full house for each performance.

With final preparations taking place for the stage adaptation of the 1965 epic Doctor Who story The Dalek Masterplan, the cast can at least not worry about the size of the audience. All of the tickets are now sold for all of the performance and for the convention on the Saturday.

The proceeds of the event are all going to charity – to both Children in Need and to support the venue of the event, The New Theatre Royal in Portsmouth.

We just caught the organiser of the play (and the actor who plays the Doctor) Nick Scovell, who says that everything is “going really well” and that audiences are in for a real treat.

According to the BBC, this is the last time that permission will be granted for the stage adaptation of a previously screened Doctor Who/Dalek story. The stage performance of Evil of the Daleks, last year, was truly outstanding – and this year’s production promises to be better still.

Note: readers of Dalek Links may be pleased (or appalled) to learn that your host and Webmaster, Peter Labrow, is to appear on stage with Nick Briggs, Terry Molloy, Rob Shearman and Barnaby Edwards at the convention on Saturday morning. You are welcome to make yourself known to him and offer to buy him a pint.
