The clip is from 1983 and features astrologer Russell Grant, deciding that a Dalek is ‘an Aris’ – to which the Dalek replies “that’s Virgoing on the ridiculous” while former Doctors Patrick Troughton and Peter Davison look on, laughing.
According to the Sun, the spokesman for the estate of Terry Nation said that Daleks “don’t do comedy” and that they are “meant to be sinister baddies”.
Get a grip, guys. This clip (like others that have been filmed over the years) are just bits of fun; not including them is akin to censoring them from history. This clip is part of Doctor Who history and shouldn’t buried, it’s not some piece of unauthorised pirate profiteering. Not letting this clip be released is a real PR gaff that demonstrates a certain lacking in a sense of proportion.
While we applauded the estate of Terry Nation when they stomped on the Dalek porn movie, this is just petty.
Anyone who wants to see the clip should pop along to You Tube before the estate of Terry Nation has another hissy fit and demands that it’s removed.
