Dalek kidnap plot fails

Monday, July 28, 2008

Two men have been jailed after trying to kidnap a woman – using a Dalek voice-changer helmet as a disguise.

James Wakefield, 28, offered his friend (Aaron Rawson, 21) £28,000 to kidnap his ex-girlfriend – he would then show up and ‘rescue’ her. The preferred method of disguise? A Dalek voice-changing helmet. (To be fair, Wakefield also purchased night-vision goggles, an air pistol and some handcuffs. Sounds like a good night in to me.)

However, Rawson bottled out and the kidnapping didn’t go ahead. Perhaps he looked in the mirror and realised that he was less terrifying than a real Dalek – or, indeed, less terrifying than a kitten with a chocolate box on its head. Wakefield has been jailed for 14 months.

Don’t try this at home, kids.
