Doctor Who aces National Television Awards again

31 October 2008

Thanks a million to all of you who voted. Top result, although Tennant quits.

Once again, Doctor Who triumphed at the National Television Awards, picking up the award for the most popular drama.

David Tennant also won the award for Outstanding Drama Performance. Was unable to attend in person, but revealed in a filmed speech that he would be leaving the show after the current run of ‘specials’ and before the next series.

In many ways the coverage of Tennant quitting took over in the media from the results of the awards themselves, a testament to how popular and newsworthy the programme is now. We look forward to him returning in an anniversary special some years from now, ‘The Fifteen Doctors’.

Thanks to everyone who voted, your vote always counts and makes a difference.
