Rare 1960s Marx bump-and-go Dalek toy for sale on ebay

11 May 2008

This is a 1960s Marx Dalek, with ‘robot action’ which means it has a bump-and-go action. These Daleks were the first Doctor Who toys, introduced by Louis Marx in 1964.

This is the second of my rare Dalek items for sale on ebay. It is battery powered and still works! It has pivoting wheels which enable it to change direction when bumping into objects.

As you can see, this toy has done its fair share of bumping into objects and is most definitely not ‘as new’ with some damage to the dome and neck section, plus plenty of scuffs to the paintwork – which is all to be expected from a 40-odd year-old toy.

However, unlike many Marx Daleks of this age, its gun, arm and eye-stalk are intact and fully attached.

When moving, the neck section lights up.

This Marx Dalek was made in Hong Kong, so is not one of the very first made (they were made in the UK).

This is a lovely example of a rare toy, one which very seldom comes up for sale, even in less than pristine condition.
