Dalek operator John Scott Martin dies

One of the original Dalek operators from the classic series of Doctor Who, John Scott Martin, has died, aged 82.

John Scott Martin was a Dalek operator from the 1965 story, The Chase, right through to 1988’s Remembrance of the Daleks – which makes him the longest-running Dalek operator, apparently.

Due to his length of service, Martin would typically operate the ‘lead Dalek’ in a scene where there was more than one. He also appeared on Doctor Who as a Zarbi and a Mechanoid.

Martin had suffered from Parkinson’s disease; he died on 6 January 2009.
