Giant Dalek created on Northern Ireland’s Black Mountain

Northern Ireland’s Black Mountain has just become home to a new inhabitant – a 100ft Dalek created from bedsheets.

The Dalek has been created by Denis Rushe on behalf of the ‘Uncharted Territory’ group; it has been created to publicise a science fiction convention called ‘Vortex‘.

Apparently, the Dalek took two days to create, with Denis working hard to lay out sheets on the mountain’s near 50% incline. His family had to give up pretty much all of their bed linen to make this strange dream a reality.

It’s all in a good cause, though – the convention is in aid of the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice, so it’s drawing attention to a good cause.

The convention features autograph signings, photo sessions and interviews with actors from Doctor Who, Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures.
